Netflix trying out higher prices for UK customers

Netflix customers in the UK could see their monthly subscription prices increase as the media giant explores changes in its pricing model.

The confirmation came via a Netflix spokesperson speaking to Digital Spy which clarified that the tests were taking place to “better understand how members value Netflix,” and that “not everyone will see this test and we may never roll out these specific prices beyond this test.”

Customers in the USA saw their subscription costs increase at the start of the year, which to many people suggested an incoming rise for UK prices too. Netflix has denied this, however, saying that “price increases are specific to each country and the US increase does not influence or indicate a UK price change".

A user on Digital Spy’s forum reported finding three different prices for the Netflix subscriptions just by switching browsers and clearing cookies:

  • £6.99/£9.99/£12.99
  • £5.99/£8.99/£11.99
  • £5.99/£7.99/£9.99

Netflix has long been the streaming service to beat when it comes to high-quality content on demand with a wide choice of exceptional movies and TV shows. But more cost is still more cost!
